If ever there was someone I could call on, it was my Aunt Wilma.
She was a humble person who knew the Lord.
To Lawrence and many relatives, I sincerely send my deepest sympathy.
As I thought about Aunt Wilma, there are two songs that come to mind,
" Going up Yonder" - Tramaine Hawkins
"When I Rose This Morning" - The Mississippi Mass Choir
May GOD give you comfort during this time.

AARP Suitland Chapter President Wilma Smith served as President and then served as a Regional Chapter Advisor at the AARP National Office. She was a model of Chapter Leadership, making herself available to her members, recruiting new members and doing great outreach to local and state legislators as well as her Member of Congress. Wilma was a delightful and caring person who paid great attention to detail, and often brought busloads of members to Annapolis during the legislative session to support efforts to improve life for the 50+. She did much to help her community in Prince Georges County and many of us all over Maryland were the beneficiaries of her generosity of time, effort and dedication to bringing out the best in us - and she did it all with a wonderful smile.

On behalf of all of us at AARP in Maryland, I share our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Wilma J. Smith.

Dear Lawrence and Family,
I was sadden and speechless to hear of the passing of my dear friend Wilma. She was a wonderful person to know. She taught me a lot about being a leader. I will miss her greatly.

I met Wilma thru a neighbor and join the senior bible study group on Wednesdays she was teaching. I later encourage Wilma to return to the AARP Suitland MD Chapter 939 and to become the President in 2008.

May you find strength in God's word that says I will never leave you nor forsake you. God hears us when we call on Him for help and strength.
