David Jerome Jenkins

We bid farewell to our father, brother, uncle, and friend David Jerome Jenkins who departed from this world on May 15, 2024, at the age of 66. He was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love to those who knew him, and his absence leaves a void in our hearts. 

David was born in Liberty, he was the son of the late Boyd H. Jenkins Sr, and Birdie Mae Jenkins of Liberty, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Vanessa Chambers, sister Jeanette Jenkins and brother Boyd H. Jenkins, Jr. (Veronica).

David was a veteran who served faithfully in the Army. He did his basic training in Fort Jackson and was later sent to Korea. He lived in Boston Massachusetts for many years.

Raising his sons was his greatest and most cherished accomplishment. He loved every moment of being a father. He loved watching and playing football as well as bike riding with his boys when they were growing up. He was a stickler for education and good grades. One of his favorite quotes was “You can stay up late, but you better not miss that bus in the morning”. He enjoyed sharing family traditions of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

David always had a smile on his face no matter what was going on in his life, and he wasn’t one to let his emotions show. If he could help, he would go out his way to help those around him.

His sons remember one Christmas when times were tough for them, and David knew a family that had it rougher that he did, so he found a way to be a blessing to them even though things were difficult for him.David will truly be missed. He leaves behind his two: sons, David Chambers and Vandress Chambers; sisters, Gloria Jenkins, Janice Jenkins, Brenda Jenkins, Sarah Jenkins-Hudgens (Alton), Marcus Jenkins and Samantha Jenkins; Brothers: Verlion Jenkins and Lynnwood Jenkins (Benita); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
