Mrs. Grace Austin Hagood of Liberty, SC was born in Calhoun (Clemson), South Carolina on August 9, 1930 to the late Roosevelt and Annie Smith Austin. She was the wife of the late James (Donk) Hagood. She departed this life on October 12, 2023. Deceased before her were her four sisters, Louise Agnew, Ola Doris Smith, Catherine Plummer, and Virginia Simpson.
Mrs. Hagood was a member of New Hope Baptist Church all her life, where she held many offices; Church Treasurer, Church Trustee Board, Sunday School Teacher, Secretary of the Women’s Missionary, Secretary of the Pastor’s Aid Club, Member of the Senior Choir, Member of the Church Council, and she inspired many lives. She was a retired employee of Sir Shirt Makers in Pickens, South Carolina, where she worked for over 30 years.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories and to celebrate her life; one son, Freddie J. Hagood, Sr. (Carol) of Liberty, SC. Two sisters, Mrs. Bertha L. Walker of Liberty, SC, and Mrs. Rose (Pete) A. Bierra of Greer, SC. Two grandchildren, Freddie J. Hagood, Jr. of Blackstock, SC and Dr. Crystal J. Hagood of Charlotte, NC. One grandson; and a host of nephews and nieces, other relatives, and friends.
Today Represents A Chapter Completed,
A Page Turned;
A Life Well Lived,
And A Rest Well Earned.
