Leslie Hallums Obituary

"In Honor of a Devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Faithful Servant of the Lord"

Leslie Carol Hallums 59, transitioned to our heavenly father on June 9, 2025, at home in Moreno Valley, California. Leslie was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Barbara Rogers Hallums; her daughter, Aketa Cherie Hallums Belton; and two sisters, Cynthia Donaritha Denise Hallums Sutton and Alberta Odessa Hallums.

From an early age, Leslie’s faith guided her path. She joined Smith Chapel F.B.H. Church under Elder R.J. Shackelford, where she taught Sunday School and Bible Study. Leslie graduated from Pickens High School in 1984 and continued her education at Tri-County Technical College. Later, she also attended Calvary Chapel in Moreno Valley, deepening her walk with the Lord.

Though life presented her with a variety of challenges, she made a conscious and heartfelt decision to rededicate herself to the Lord. From that point forward, she lived a life committed to Him—an enduring testament to her identity as a true servant and child of God. Outside of her professional life, Leslie found deep contentment in life’s gentle pleasures, traveling, strolling through nature, immersing herself in books, and drawing peace from visits to the mountains and the beach. Yet her heart was fullest when sharing moments with her cherished daughters and grandchildren.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ashley Hallums and Alicia Hallums of Pickens, S.C.; four granddaughters, Dre Daija Hallums, Briyona Suber, Amaya Hallums, and Haylie Hallums, all of Pickens, S.C.; and one grandson, Jevon Belton of Columbia, S.C. Her memory is also lovingly cherished by her brother, Terry Hallums Sr. (Gwen), whose presence brought joy and light to her life; and her beloved sister, Barbara Heard (Thomas) of Easley, S.C., She is also survived by two aunts, Eleanor Sutton of Pickens, S.C., and Emma Sloan of Moreno Valley, Calif.; and three uncles, Style Rogers of Pickens, S.C., and Ray and Bob Hallums of Greenville, S.C. She is also remembered with love by a host of extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched.

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
— Psalm 30:5 (KJV)
