Troy Smith Obituary

Troy Darnell Smith, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, born September 24th, 1965, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday June 16th, 2024. Troy was born to the late Troy Smith and Lania Smith and was a cherished member of the Smith family, growing up with his sisters Melissa and Karen and his brother, Dr. Brian Smith.

Troy's life was marked by his incredible talent and passion for working with his hands. He played in the high school band, displaying his early love for creating and performing. After high school, Troy served his country with honor as a veteran of the Army.

Upon returning from the Army, Troy found his true calling in various technical roles. He worked as an industrial assemblyman, a division maintenance technician, and a maintenance technician, where his natural ability to build and fix anything shined brightly. Whether it was a complex machine or a simple household item, Troy could repair it with ease and skill.

Troy was a gentle soul who loved his family dearly. He would do anything for his sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. To be called Troy’s friend was to be considered family. He appreciated and loved people for who they were, and his unwavering loyalty and kindness were felt by all who knew him.

Troy is preceded in death by his father, Troy Lee Smith, his niece Apriesha Nicole Smith, and survived by his mother Lania Smith (James Williams); his sisters Melissa (Andre Gambrell) and Karen Smith and Pamela Hagood; his brothers, Tony Hagood, Dr. Brian Smith (Latarsha Smith), Tim Jamison and Corte Ellis. His nieces Tasha Smith, Amber Smith, Brianna Thompson, Jasmine King, and Brinae Smith; his nephews Chris Williams and Kaleb Dicks; and a host of great nieces and nephews. His special friend Jeniffer Scott, her daughter Shequillia Epps and her son Kiraikis Epps. He also leaves behind a host of aunts and uncles on the King and Smith sides of the family and numerous cousins. Special thanks to his aunt Debbie Jackson and Patricia Ballentine.

Troy’s legacy of love, kindness, and skill will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
